EARN Maryland Grant Workforce Training

The EARN Maryland program at FCC is a coordinated partnership with Frederick County Workforce Services (FCWS) and the Frederick County Local Management Board (LMB). Grant funding can support up to 60 participants with training, credentials, and support services for success in securing employment.  Training leads to careers with an average starting wage of $22/hour, including roles such as:

• Biological Technician
• Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or Class B
• Logistics Supervisor
• Mechanical Technician

Designed for eligible Frederick County residents, there is no cost to participate in the EARN Maryland program.

• In-person classes meet two to three times per week at Frederick Community College in the evening for six weeks.
• No prior experience is required
• Free supportive services may be available for qualified participants, including childcare, transportation, laptops, driving permits, and Adult Education/ESL classes

After completing a required OSHA-10 certification preparatory class, continue in your chosen track:

• Biotech Bootcamp
• Certified Logistics Technician
• Mechanical Technician
• Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A
• Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B

To be considered for EARN grant-funded training, you must be:

• A Maryland resident or employee of a Maryland business
• 16 years of age or older (18+ for CDL classes)
• Available to attend the full training course
• Eligible to work in the United States
• Actively seeking employment following the training and interview process
• CDL program participants need to meet Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) eligibility requirements.

Priority consideration is given to individuals from the ENOUGH community and those facing barriers to employment.

Biotech Boot Camp

Certified Logistics Technician
August 2026 • February 2027 • August 2027
Build essential skills in supply chain operations, safety, and equipment handling on your path to a nationally recognized logistics credential.

Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B
July 2027
Receive hands-on training and testing preparation to develop road-readiness skills and launch your career as a commercial driver.

Mechanical Technician
February 2027
Gain hands-on mechanical and troubleshooting skills to launch your career as a mechanical technician in manufacturing or industrial settings.
